About GB Swim Coach Henley
About Me
I am a former Police Detective with Thames Valley Police. I served 26 years in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire before leaving finally in December 2023. As a Detective I was a specialist interviewer, I trained how to interview vulnerable adults and children. This skill taught me how to build rapports, gain trust and crucially how to make children and adults feel comfortable and relaxed.
I am very family orientated and wanted a career that allowed me more flexibility. I qualified with the ASA in 2017 and was coaching swimming part time whilst continuing to work in the police.
I have taught swimming at all levels with experience teaching school swimming and on a one to one level. I currently coach with the Henley Junior Triathlon Club and continue to teach group and private lessons.
I have taught hundreds of children to swim including my own!
I am also a level two Fitness Coach and teach classes in the local area. I am passionate about health and fitness.
It is very important to me to promote good health and well being and to set a good example to my own children . Swimming has been proven to be a great way to relieve stress and can help those who suffer with ADHD and anxiety. Swimming regularly helps the mind de-stress and the endorphins released during swimming help increase positivity. A recent study shows that just being in the water increases the blood flow to the brain which can protect it from harmful toxins.
In my spare time I enjoy long cycle rides and try to get out on my bike as much as possible. I have also filmed several television programmes including several series of Hunted and Celebrity Hunted for Channel 4.
I have recently trained as a First Aid Instructor with First For Safety Oxfordshire, so I now teach two hour family and paediatric courses locally too. I hope you can see that you will be in safe hands learning with me!
